Born on the cusp of the Cherokee removal, James Yates grew up in hopeful innocence and a belief that his family's way of life would be his heritage. His Cherokee parents had adopted the white settler's culture and ways of farming. Set in the 1820's of Eastern Kentucky, follow the Yates family as they try to hold on to the freedoms that will eventually be denied them and their Cherokee neighbors.
The Cherokee Homeland eBook Kayla Robbs
This book was wonderfully written. Each character was described in a manner that you could picture each in your head as you read. The book told of the tragedies that this cherokee family endured but still held onto their values. The children even though they were young the responsibilities that they had shows a time when children could be responsible and still enjoy the simplest things in life. I think every teenager should read this book to see the values and the hardships that they are so fortunate not to be facing in todays world. This would also be a great book to read before studying the Trail of Tears in school so a real family could be pictured to make it more interesting.Product details

Great story teller, looking forward to the next book.
Great values, can see kids to adults enjoying this book. Some challenging vocabulary for younger children. I can't wait for the next book in this series to come to print.
